Audi S4: revealed before its debut
Even the logo has been revealed meaning that we should soon see the debut: the absence of camouflage and a stop in a car park, as if to wait its moment, are confirming the theory. The new Audi S4 sedan has been photographed at a dealership in the latest spy shots before the Paris show, event in which it will be launched.
As per tradition, the bodywork distinguishes itself from the field of TDI with its spoiler that isn’t exaggerated but is perfectly in harmony with its serious lines. The most tangibile change is the abandoning of the aspirated V8 and the return to the 3.0 litre TFSI with compressor capable of producing 335 hp. It will be the job of the seven-speed S-Tronic transmission to manage the 420Nm of torque.

Audi TT RS
Feast your eyes in the Audi TT RS, completely undisguised and getting ready to take on the might of Porsche!
Audi has sent the TT on a strict development regime in a bid to make it a genuine Cayman rival dynamically, and our spies captured this TT RS pounding the Nurburgring before it goes on sale later this year.
There’ll be no mistaking the flagship TT from lesser models when it hits showrooms priced at around £40,000. Distinguished by chrome wing mirrors, an arched rear spoiler and two wide tailpipes, the TT RS will feature a 2.5-litre five-cylinder petrol engine, twin-turbocharged to produce 350bhp.
The turbochargers work in sequence, with a smaller unit running at lower revs for instant response before a larger one takes over, providing power at the top of the rev range. Channelled through Audi’s dual clutch DSG gearbox driving all four wheels, the 0-60mph sprint should be despatched in under five seconds, making this comfortably the fastest TT ever.
At the same time, Audi will also to replace the 3.2-litre V6 engine powering the current flagship TT for the 280bhp 3.6-litre V6 petrol found in the VW Passat R36 - which we’ll be reporting on very shortly.
And Auto Express will be first behind the wheel of the TT RS, so keep coming back to get all the details on this hot Audi first.

AUDI RANGE RANKED THE UK’S MOST SECURE - AGAIN
Three BICSA security awards and a third consecutive overall manufacturer award for the Vorsprung durch Technik brand.
Audi wins third overall Manufacturer Award in British Insurance Car Security Awards, presented by the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre, Thatcham on Wednesday June 18th
New A4 range voted most secure in compact executive class, S8 best in performance car class, TT Roadster best in Convertible/Roadster class
For the third successive year Audi has stolen the show in the 2008 British Insurance Car Security Awards, not only scoring three category wins but also taking away the overall Manufacturer of the Year Award for the widest range of cars offering five star security.
The Vorsprung durch Technik brand’s commitment to anti-theft protection across its range was acknowledged by experts at a ceremony held on June 18th at the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre in Thatcham, Berkshire.
The top BICSA award goes to the manufacturer producing the widest range of models that satisfy stringent criteria laid down by Thatcham, including the achievement of a five star rating for ‘theft of’ security and a rating of at least four stars for ‘theft from’ security.
In addition to this all-encompassing award, Audi models were also voted best-in-class in 3 of the specific model categories assessed by the experts. The all-new A4 Saloon and Avant, S8 Saloon and TT Roadster models all outclassed rivals in their considered opinion.
Director of Audi UK Jeremy Hicks welcomed the very positive result for Audi: “I am delighted that the huge investment we have channelled into protective measures for all our cars has proved its worth yet again in Thatcham. To be acknowledged as number one for car security for a third consecutive year is an achievement which Audi AG’s security team can take considerable pride in,” he said.
Award-winning security protection is achieved right across the Audi range through features including Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser technology with interior ultrasonic protection, Thatcham Category 4 locking wheel bolts, anti-tow tilt sensors, visible Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) and extensive marked parts.

Audi Wins the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Despite Peugeot dominance for the first half of the race, the #2 Audi R10 TDI of Dindo Capello (Italy), Tom Kristensen (Denmark) and Allan McNish (Scotland) managed to win the 76th running of the 24 hours of Le Mans 2008.
Never falling behind the pace-setting #7 Peugeot of Gene-Minassian-Villeneuve for more than one lap, the turning point occurred with the arrival of the rain in early morning with Capello, Kristensen and McNish taking the lead at 05:17 and holding it until the finish at 15:00 hours.
Strategy played the deciding factor as Audi Sport Team Joest chose a set-up for their #2 Audi R10 TDI that was the best compromise for both dry and wet track surfaces. Meanwhile Peugeot took a different fateful approach by having to change their cars during the race to a rain set-up, Audi only needed to change tires. The result was Audi ahead of the Peugeot by one lap with Peugeot not rejoining the leading lap again until the very end.
Tom Kristensen, extended his existing record to eight Le Mans victories now. Dindo Capello won for the third time after 2003 and 2004. Allan McNish scored his second Le Mans victory with his first in 1998 and now 2008. For Audi Sport Team Joest, it was their third successive victory with the Audi R10 TDI, making it a hat-trick for the second time after 2000, 2001 and 2002.
Elsewhere, LMP2 was won by the Porsche Spyders who came first and second on their first visit to the Le Mans 24 hours. Aston Martin’s DBR 9 successfully defended its LM GT1 title, Ferrari taking revenge by scoring a massive 1-2-3-4 in LM GT2 class.
On top of the thrilling action, the energy of the 24 hours of Le Mans 2008 was heightened with a record crowd of 258,500 enthusiastic spectators in attendance.

Audi Q5 with New Infotainment Platform
“The exceptional performance spectrum of this new platform is a tribute to the cooperation and team spirit between our two companies’ specialists,” said Dinesh C. Paliwal, Harman Chief Executive Officer. “We are delighted to apply our leading-edge technology with Audi to create an exciting new experience for drivers.”
The Harman/Audi platform sets new benchmarks for automotive navigation, communication and wide-screen entertainment. A high-performance NVIDIA® graphics processor ensures that navigation map images transition smoothly, even when the vehicle quickly changes direction. Driver orientation is enhanced by a three-dimensional landscape view that reproduces true-to-scale terrain. Photorealistic depiction of points of interest allows visual matching of key landmarks to the in-car display, and identification of commercial points of interest is enhanced with well-known brand logos. The display offers a bird’s-eye view of more-distant destinations and features automatic close-up zoom at intersections.
Available map media cover 43 European countries, the United States and Canada. Precise audio route instructions and voice commands for audio, telephone, address book and navigation functions are supported in eight languages. The system supports connection of external devices such as USB storage media or an Apple iPod; a jukebox function allows for creation of personal music playlists. The digital radio accepts both European Digital Audio Broadcast signals and U.S. satellite services. An integral four-band GSM cell phone supports Bluetooth® connection and accepts a SIM card from a driver’s personal phone.

Audi A4 Earns 5 Stars in Euro NCAP Crash Test
AUDI A4 EARNS FIVE STARS IN THE EURO NCAP CRASH TEST
• Mid-sized model one of the safest cars in its class
• Highest rating possible for the new A4 Saloon
After testing the new Audi A4 for passive crash safety, the Euro NCAP consortium awarded the vehicle five stars, the highest rating possible. The results achieved by the new Audi A4 for adult protection in frontal and side crashes as well as child and pedestrian protection make it one of the safest vehicles in its class.
The mid-sized model from the brand with the four rings was put to the test for passive vehicle safety by Euro NCAP. The consortium, consisting of international representatives from European ministries of transport, automotive clubs, insurance companies and consumer protection agencies, comprehensively examined the crash performance of new vehicles.
The Euro NCAP’s demanding test requirements substantially exceed the guidelines stipulated by European lawmakers. The data collected on the A4 for driver and passenger safety in frontal and side crashes earned the vehicle five stars, the best rating possible. The Audi A4 offers good protection for children as well: the test results for child safety are also high, with four stars earned.
Founded in 1997, the Euro NCAP consortium conducts crash tests with all of the important vehicles on the European market. It seeks to systematically improve safety in traffic, thus protecting the lives of all road users.
Audi regards providing partner protection for pedestrians and cyclists as an important task. A vehicle front end designed specifically to comply with this safety philosophy helps to mitigate consequences in the event of an accident. This development is rewarded with two of four possible stars in the Euro NCAP test.

Audi R8 to get Full LED Headlamp
First full-LED headlamp for the Audi R8
54 high-performance LEDs provide all lighting functions
Color similar to daylight offers advantages at night
Innovative lighting technology as option
Ingolstadt, 2025-05-30 – Effective immediately, the range of equipment available for the Audi R8 sports car now also includes the first full-LED headlamp. In addition to the daytime running light which now features 24 LEDs per headlamp, light-emitting diodes are also used for the turn signals, the low-beam and the high-beam headlights. The €3,590 option rounds out the list of equipment available for the high-tech, mid-engine sports car.
The earlier launch of LED technology at the front of the car required a waiver by the European Union. The prominent advantages are lower energy consumption and a color that more closely resembles daylight, provides greater contrast and is easier on the human eye. LEDs are also non-wearing, require a lower voltage, are compact and offer greater design freedom.
The new full-LED headlamp represents the pinnacle of Audi’s lighting strategy. The use of LEDs already enjoys a long tradition. This innovative technology has previously been used in production vehicles for tail light functions, brake lights and daytime running lights. Since early 2003, Audi has also used the semiconductor technology in a number of concept cars to implement some or all of the lighting functions at the front of the car.
The brand with the four rings first introduced a strip-shaped fog lamp at the Detroit Auto Show in 2003. That same year, the Audi Nuvolari quattro showing the first full-LED headlamp was a highlight of the Geneva Auto Show. And the Le Mans quattro – a legitimate predecessor to the Audi R8 – illuminated the Frankfurt night with LEDs on the eve of the 2003 Frankfurt Auto Show.
