Audi has unveiled the 2014 R18 e-Tron Quattro, which is coming with a new all-wheel drive system and Motor Generator Unit. These two new innovative technologies will ensure the top position of the race car in its class.
The improved Quattro all-wheel drive system can work at speeds less than 120 km/h (75 mph). The fundamentally new Motor Generator Unit (MGU) powers the front wheels. The car also gather kinetic energy, under braking, thanks to an “optimized flywheel energy storage device”.
“We’ve developed the entire hybrid drive from scratch again for 2014. Specifically, it’s become even lighter and more efficient than before.”, said Dr. Martin Mühlmeier, Audi Sport Head of Technology.
