Audi quattro GmbH Managing – Director Franciscus van Meel has been reassigned over an internal dispute. There are no further details, but the manufacturer says that the move is “part of a planned rotation”.
Mr. van Meel will take on a prominent role at Audi China later this year. Still, there are rumors that he was moved over a dispute with Technical Development boss Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg.
According to other rumors, mr. Hackenberg is upset that the upcoming R8 has been delayed until early next year due to several last minute engineering changes. Other reason can be the failure to launch a production version of the R8 e-Tron.
Doesn’t matter the reasoning, but Mr. van Meel will be replaced by Heinz Peter Hollerweger.
