The 2015 season opens with an endurance classic in the USA for Audi customer racing. Two Audi R8 LMS will start at the 53rd running of the 24 hours of Daytona. Following the first victory for an Audi at Daytona two years ago, and a second place last season, the two customer teams Flying Lizard Motorsports and Paul Miller Racing will fight for class honors on 24 and 25 January.
“We will give our customer teams the best possible support so that they can bring home a good result in this race, which is one of the world’s five most important endurance races,” says Romolo Liebchen, Head of Audi Sport customer racing. “I hope that an R8 LMS finishes on the podium again.” Read the rest of this entry »
Essex-based TDI-Tuning closes 2014 with a 37% growth year-on-year and more demand than ever for its long-established diesel tuning boxes and other services.
The company’s plans for 2015 include further product development for diesel road cars, and a continued focus as a brand name for design and manufacturing of tuning boxes specific to agricultural vehicles and motorhomes.
The company’s growth is made more poignant by the deployment of its four-man technical team: led by ex-Ford Technical Director Steve Legon, the division is one of the largest for a UK-based tuning box company, giving a very strong product line-up and very quick response to any development opportunities. Top Gear: Audi TT is “Coupé of the Year 2014”
The British magazine Top Gear has declared the Audi TT as its Coupé of the Year 2014. The jury praised the Audi TT 2.0 TDI ultra, developing 184 hp, as an especially smooth, quiet‑running and evocative car. (December 28, 2014)
Top marks for Audi A3 and S3 Sedan* in US NCAP
The Audi A3 Sedan and the Audi S3 Sedan achieved the highest overall grading of five stars in the US NCAP, signaling the maximum level of crash safety. The A3 Sedan was the only European model in the premium compact segment to be awarded five stars and the title of “Top Safety Pick+” of the “Insurance Institute for Highway Safety”. With the new Q7, Audi is setting standards in the premium SUV segment. 325 kilograms less weight and the low center of mass make it extremely agile. At the same time, it is the most spacious car in its segment. Although the exterior dimensions have gotten smaller, it offers substantially more interior room for passengers and luggage. Its innovative assistance and infotainment systems take the SUV to the front of the pack. The efficient engines consume 26 percent less fuel on average.
